Charity Update: Sewing the Seeds & Barakat Bundle
Through our partnership with Sewing the Seeds & Barakat Bundle, every purchase since the beginning of the year has been directly contributing to the initiatives of these incredible non-profit organisations who focus on building women empowerment in India.
We are so grateful for our community's support towards these donations! Your purchases are assisting the provision of safe and meaningful employment for Indian women from marginalised communities, as well as providing life-saving care and education bundles for mothers and newborns in South Asia. Uplifting women is what drives us and we are proud our donations can assist in making a positive impact on the lives of so many in need.
Since our donations began, Sewing the Seeds have been busier than ever tending to the substantial increase of enquiries for product collaborations! We are so happy to hear our partnership is helping to expand their production and resources, providing more women, their families and communities with employment, education and empowerment.
Sewing the Seeds have been able to employ and train two additional women, Niveditha & Kavitha, pictured below. In addition, the centre has now generated the means to purchase more sewing machines as well as some specialised equipment to coincide with the increase in workflow.
“I enjoy working in the centre because of the secure and peaceful environment as well as the supportive relationship I share with the women here.” ~ Niveditha
“Joining the Sewing the Seeds centre has been a life changing experience for me. I now feel I have the opportunity to be accepted and valued for my skills.'' ~ Kavitha
Barakat Bundle recently hosted their annual “It takes a village” Mothers Day Fundraiser. With your help we were able to raise over $5,000 towards Barakat Bundles $20,000 goal!
Additionally, with the help of our ongoing donations, Barakat Bundle have been able to develop 166 new Bundles to distribute throughout India and South Asia, and in the coming months will have the resources to train an additional 50 ASHAs (community health-care workers) across 5 locations in India.
“This is incredible and we cannot thank you all enough. It means so much to us, our partners in India, and the families who will receive the Barakat Bundles. This is 166 mothers and newborns who will be given a chance to have a fair chance at life”. - SriVani Ganti, Director of Communications for Barakat Bundle & Giving Cradle.
Developed by medical and public health professionals, each bundle provides evidence-based items that are essential for a safe birth and a successful first year for a mother and her newborn. We believe that every mother and newborn deserves access to safe and essential items, and appreciate your support in making a meaningful impact towards the goals of this remarkable organisation.
